Progressive Neural Resolution Therapy

How Do We Create Our Negative Limiting Beliefs?

From the moment of conception, everything we feel, see, hear and experience is registered by our subconscious mind to create the network of beliefs that determine our view of the world and our personal reality; our truth.

Often in therapy, clients are shocked to discover that the feeling of being “unlovable” and “unwanted” stems from their first experience in the womb when their mother was contemplating abortion or feeling overwhelmed by the news of her pregnancy.

The moment the 3 year old goes to daycare, the subconscious mind may irrationally decide that it has been abandoned or rejected.

The moment that someone inappropriately touches the 5 year old, they decide “I’m not safe” “I’m all alone”, “I will never trust”.

The 7 year old that gets made fun of in class for giving the wrong answer and decides “I’m stupid and I will never speak up again”.

The 10 year old that experienced viscerally the pain of money issues and mom and dad fighting all the time, who decides “life is hard and money is scare” “marriage is full of conflict and pain” “I will never get married!”

The 14 year old that helplessly watches as his mom leaves his dad and buries anger and resentment toward women deciding “women can’t be trusted” “people you love, leave you”.

The very beliefs that sabotage us are subconsciously programmed to keep us safe and survive. Once we decide that is how life is – it is!

As children, we experience these and other incidences that create a sense of fear and a reaction or decision in response to this fear as a protection mechanism for survival. This decision turns into a belief that the world is “so” and creates a pattern or a neural program that is repeated throughout our lifetime. Every time we are faced with a situation that triggers us, we respond from an automatic program that was determined in our childhood. This is why an adult might respond with an irrational or immature response to any given situation. These default programs produce default results and therefore establish a pattern where people feel stuck – repeating the same mistakes in different situation and feel frustrated with the lack of progress. These patterns are below our level of awareness. Often we don’t even realize that we are in our own patterns as we assume that our life is in response to external circumstances: there are no good men out there or women can’t be trusted or I am simply unlucky etc.

What’s more is that each time we repeat a pattern, it gets more deeply engrained in our subconscious and we find more proof in our world that our limiting beliefs are true. The real truth is that we are the creators of our outcomes from old patterns that drive a response to our circumstances. These patterns are the root of the self-sabotage that frustrate us and can be changed with the help of PNRT.
